High-grade products that support the patient's independence and contribute to wellbeing.
Cologne's St. Antonius Hospital was founded over a hundred years ago. The multi-wing building was built in the Neo-Renaissance style, and with 150 beds it was the largest hospital in south Cologne. Its expansion continued. During the 50's and 70's, timber-framed buildings were added, resulting in an ensemble structured with four parts. The original east-west wing and the hospital chapel are protected as historic monuments. Over the years, St. Antonius Hospital has developed into a regional health center and offers both outpatient and inpatient care.
In accordance with the hospital's guiding principle of "Focusing on People", the goal is to make people's stay as comfortable as possible. This includes medical treatment, personal care as well as the furnishing of patient rooms. Safety, hygiene and comfort are important aspects when it comes to designing patient bathrooms and must be considered when renovating and expanding the care unit.
The high-grade outfitting also gives the bathrooms in the elective surgery units an atmosphere of wellbeing. The barrier-free products are integrated into the design. The accessible washbasin can be used comfortably in standing as well as in sitting and isn't recognizable as a barrier-free product at first glance. Integrated grab handles provide a secure hold and make standing up easier. The spacious shelf space provides a lot of room for bathroom utensils. An overflow was deliberately not included on the washbasin. This, coupled with a non-porous surface, makes cleaning easier and increases the hygiene level. The shower, which is flush with the ground, is equipped with WARM TOUCH handholds to provide patients with a reliable support. The handholds are made from synthetic material coated to have a chrome-look. This makes them exceptionally comfortable to hold since they have a warm surface. With their chrome appearance they compliment the selected high-shine chrome accessories. The functionality, which provides safety to patients, and high-grade outfitting result in a comfort bathroom with a timeless design.
