Villa in Munich, Germany

Strict geometry and strong contrasts define the design of the town house, located in the centre of Munich on Herzogpark. The park area is one of the best residential areas in Munich. Thomas Mann and many other artists, scientists and celebrities were drawn to this place at the start of the 1920s and 1930s..

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The building, designed and built by the architects GKK & Partner, impresses due to the structured arrangement of the façade. The colour white dominates the design of the outer envelope. Dark window frames form the contrasting element. Inside the building light colours are mainly used. A well thought-through play of light and shadow creates contrasts and therefore emphasises the exact lines of the architecture.

Clear geometric shapes are also found in the interior. The solid stainless steel version of the expressive hardware Range 180 was used on the doors and windows. The fittings are cut from solid stainless steel and in this way acquire their independent contour. The design concept of Range 180, which is based on a rectangle, relates to the square floorplan of the building. The combination with square roses underlines the geometric style of the lever handle.
