HessenChemie Campus, Wiesbaden

The HessenChemie Campus is simultaneously the representative headquarters of the employers' association and is the exhibition of the members. Products of the chemical and plastics processing industry were primarily installed in the association's building.

The representative new building is intended to reflect the principle of action of HessenChemie, to actively organise instead of to administrate. The Hessian employers' federation of the chemical and plastics processing industry has more than 300 members. The modern office concept of the HessenChemie Campus creates transparent structures and has a vanguard role with regard to energy efficiency and sustainability. For example, it achieves values 96.2 percent those specified by the German Energy Saving Regulations.

The building with the striking ribbon windows was designed by the architects grabowski.spork in Wiesbaden. From the external façade to the wall design through to the hardware, wherever possible, products of the federation's members were used. The design shows the capability und future viability of the industry in line with its guiding principle "Innovation made in Germany". In this way a clear reference between the building and its users was created.

Down to the smallest detail, attention was paid to ensuring that the materials and design produce a consistent, continuous appearance. To this end, for example, the style of the façade was picked up again in the furniture and similar materials were used repeatedly.

Plexiglas from Evonik was not only used in the design of the external envelope, but also in the sanitary rooms for the fronts of the S 01 modules. The non-porous, water repellent surface made of acrylic glass is extremely well suited for the sanitary area, because dirt hardly adheres to it and it is easy to clean. The design of the modules creates architectural clarity and a generously sized, uncluttered ambience. Washbasin, WC and urinal modules were used. S 01 is a unique complete system. The internal components, for example, a hinged support rail or toilet brush, can be folded out of the module by means of the "push release" technology and after use can be lowered back into the module plane, so that a flat surface results. System

S 01 enables a new type of architectural solution and thus emphasises the representative design of the HessenChemie Campus.
