The architecture of the residence for the elderly offers open spaces and freedom, so that the residents can live as self-determined as possible.
A pleasant environment and good care, which includes not only physical care but also the welfare of the residents, is the guiding principle of the Philosophenweg residence for the elderly in Wetzlar. The architecture of the new building is in the classic modern style. The residence for the elderly was designed by the architects Rohrbach und Schmees in Gießen. For the fitout, a great deal of importance was placed in high-quality products, which conform to the premium concept of the residence for the elderly. A roof garden restaurant, jointly used lounge areas, a fireplace room and the residence's own library are among the many amenities that the facility provides. Residence and care belong together and affect the feeling of well-being. The operators have set themselves the objective of enabling each resident to participate in community life, regardless of their care needs. The interior fitout is intended to communicate security and at the same time provide reassuredness.
The residents can choose between one and two-room apartments. The floorplans are generously sized – the smallest residential unit is 22 m2 large.
The fitout can be individually determined and a resident's own pieces of furniture can also be integrated in the room as personal mementos, so that the resident does not have to give up their familiar lifestyle. All rooms have an accessible bathroom with high-quality fitout.
Safety and support in the bathroom
Not only was an investment made in the fitout of the building, but also in the quality of life which the high-quality ambience offers. For example, support rails and hinged support rails were installed in the bathrooms, which provide the residents with safety and support them in their independence. WARM TOUCH material was chosen – these are polyamide products with a chrome-look coating. They give the impression of high-gloss chrome. Unlike products with a metal surface, the support rails and hinged support rails have a warm surface, so that they are pleasant to grip, even for people with increased sensitivity to cold, for example, rheumatism sufferers.
