HEWI baby changing table: German Innovation Award 2026 winner
This year, our HEWI baby changing table was named the winner of the German Innovation Award in the category “Excellence in Business to Business – Building & Elements” for outstanding innovation.
The prize for innovation and progress
The German Innovation Award recognises products and solutions across all sectors that stand out from existing solutions thanks to their design, user-centric approach and added value. The prize thus brings outstanding innovations to the attention of a wider audience, as innovations are often not immediately apparent.
The distinguished jury comprises experts from industry, research, healthcare, technology and brand management. This wide range of perspectives enables submissions from a total of 23 countries to be assessed in a well-founded and balanced manner. The focus is on substance, credibility and a deep understanding of the target groups’ needs, because innovation does not necessarily have to be complex.
HEWI Baby Changing Table – Safety and Comfort
The new HEWI baby changing table for public spaces combines the highest safety standards and easy, convenient use with modern design. Hooks integrated into the sides allow you to hang up bags or jackets, whilst a pocket on the back provides easy-access storage for wet wipes and other items.
The laying surface ensures exceptional comfort thanks to high-quality, easy-to-clean PUR foam in a matt iron grey finish. In addition, the changing table features controlled soft-opening, providing extra safety and allowing it to be opened easily with just one hand.
The design is by Holscher Design, a multi-award-winning Danish agency specialising in strategic product design. With its roots in the Scandinavian design tradition, the studio has been developing well-thought-through solutions for products and services for more than 50 years.
Tested safety and compliant quality
The baby changing table complies with DIN 12221, Type 2, and is therefore designed for professional use. The TÜV test and GS certification also confirm the product’s high standards of quality and safety. A safety belt is available as an option for specific requirements, for example in international markets.
With this solution, HEWI is setting new standards for baby changing facilities in public spaces, combining safety, comfort and well thought-through functionality.
