S 700: Polyamide reinterpreted

Universal design meets architectural expression and selected premium colours.

In a hotel, the bathroom becomes part of the guest experience. In the premium colour Matcha Green, S 700 sets an intentional accent and helps to create a cosy atmosphere.

Some materials follow trends. Others leave their mark on one generation after the next. For decades, polyamide has been the material of choice for sanitary room design, more so than almost any other. It forms part of HEWI’s design history and has left a lasting imprint on the world of architecture. With its new polyamide system 700, HEWI is now opening a new chapter in its expertise in this material. A standalone system with a new style, two exclusive premium colours and the quality HEWI is renowned for.

The result is a system that combines design excellence with functional solutions. Designed for modern sanitary rooms, S 700 is suitable for hotels, healthcare facilities, schools and nurseries, as well as public buildings.

A distinctive feature of S 700 is the combination of flat supports with classic round tubing. This precise interplay creates balanced proportions and a timeless style that proves its worth across a range of applications.

The main focus of S 700 in the shower area is on comfort and convenience. Support rails provide safety, and the stool offers a comfortable place to sit wherever it is needed. A shower basket and hooks ensure that shower essentials and towels are always within easy reach.

The S 700 shower basket can be positioned anywhere along the shower head rail by means of a clamp. The mounting requires no drilling and allows for easy integration into existing rail systems.

Further developments in polyamide

With S 700, HEWI is further expanding the possibilities that polyamide offers. The material stands out for its inherent hygienic and robust properties. Fewer joints also make cleaning easier and give the product a clean, uncluttered look. This makes S 700 particularly suitable for sanitary areas in hotels, healthcare facilities and public buildings.

The new features include hinged support rails with an integrated WC flushing mechanism, as well as an automatic shower head holder that can be operated with one hand without the need for a push button or lever. The virtually wear-free mechanism works reliably even when the user has wet hands or suffers from limited motor function.

Another distinctive feature is a shower head holder for vertical rail systems, which can be positioned on the side of the rail. This ensures that the shower head remains at a height that is easily accessible to wheelchair users and supports independence when taking a shower. At the same time, carers can operate or adjust the shower without having to enter the wet area.

The system is complemented by a shower basket which can be integrated into existing rail systems at any height using a clamp and can be retrofitted at any time.

In the area of amenity care or private healthcare, S 700 creates a homely atmosphere that meets the requirements of modern healthcare. The premium colour Blackberry draws on the principles of healing architecture.

Universal design

S 700 was developed in accordance with the principles of universal design. Different product versions, for example the various designs of the hinged support rails or the different lengths of L-shaped and other support rails, allow for customisation to suit a wide range of room layouts and user requirements. High-contrast design features, such as those on the toilet brush unit, and tactile function buttons on the hinged support rails facilitate orientation and intuitive operation.

To meet changing requirements, HEWI offers mobile versions of hinged support rails and shower seats. If required, the products can be snapped into place on a permanently fitted mounting plate. If the mobile solutions are no longer required, they can be removed easily without the need for tools; a discreet cover then conceals the mounting plate. This ensures that sanitary facilities can be used in the long term in a way that caters for all generations and can be adapted to new needs, for example in hotels or healthcare buildings.

“The best solutions are those that adapt without compromising on their design quality. With S 700, we are implementing the principles of universal design through a clear architectural style and creating products that enable as many people as possible to use them independently.” – Christiane Strathaus, Head of Product Management at HEWI

The L-shaped support rail and the open-design hinged support rail provide safety when sitting down and standing up. The integrated paper roll holder keeps the paper within easy reach right next to the hinged support rail, allowing comfortable access with no unnecessary twisting of the upper body.

Colour as part of the interior design concept

As well as offering a wide range of functions, S 700 opens up new creative possibilities. The system is available in the neutral colours Signal White, Pure White, Light Grey, Stone Grey, Anthracite and Jet Black, as well as the premium colours Matcha Green and Blackberry.

With Matcha Green and Blackberry, HEWI deliberately incorporates colour into architecture as a design element. These two premium colours lend character to sanitary areas, facilitate orientation and create an atmosphere that goes far beyond mere functionality. Particularly in the context of healing architecture, they promote spatial concepts that place equal emphasis on well-being, safety and intuitive use.

Extensive product range

The product range includes hinged support rails, backrests, support rails, rail systems, seats, shower head holders and accessories. S 700 thus offers a continuous system designed to meet a range of requirements in sanitary rooms with accessibility.

S 700 ensures that the bathroom fittings meet the DIN 18040 standard and therefore promote independent use of the sanitary room. Hinged support rails on both sides, featuring an open design, and the backrest provide secure support and added comfort and convenience. The toilet brush unit with accessibility features, featuring an extended handle and a contrasting ergonomic grip, makes it easier to use.

S 700 can be combined with other HEWI products to create a comprehensive bathroom solution. Next to the washbasin, a stool, the modular washbasin unit and an LED mirror with a memory function complete the range of fittings tailored to the user’s needs.

The mobile shower head holder is attached to the side of the horizontal rail system and positions the hand-held shower head within easy reach for wheelchair users. However, it can also be accessed by the carers without them having to enter the wet area.
