New support rail fitting from HEWI for the shower
With its innovative single-lever shower mixer designed to prevent falls, HEWI combines a shower fitting and a support rail in a single product. The support rails, which are integrated directly into the fittings, provide support whilst showering, without the need to fit an additional support rail. The solution adheres to the principles of universal design and takes into account different physical capabilities and individual needs.

Hold function and operation are coordinated
The unique feature of the new single-lever shower mixer designed to prevent falls is that the support rails are integrated directly into the shower fitting. The side-mounted handles provide additional support, improve security and eliminate the need to fit a separate support rail. As no water flows through the grip areas, they do not heat up, even at high water temperatures. This reduces the risk of contact burns.
The knurling visually highlights the grip surfaces and makes them recognisable to the touch thanks to their textured surface. This user-centred approach is reflected in the way the fitting is operated. The ergonomically shaped lever is marked ‘cold’ and ‘hot’ and allows for intuitive adjustment of the water flow and temperature. In particular, the design takes into account the requirements for use with wet hands or when used by persons with motor impairments. A single-lever mixer cartridge from Kerox regulates the water flow, whilst the water-carrying components comply with the requirements of the UBA material lists.
“For us, universal design means designing functions in such a way that they offer added value to as many people as possible. With the new single-lever shower mixer designed to prevent falls, we have integrated the hold function directly into the fitting. This makes additional safety a natural part of the shower experience, without the need for a separate aid,” explains Florian Haude, Product Manager at HEWI.
Flexible adaptation to different room layouts
Depending on the layout of the room, the product can be fitted with either one or two support rails. Two handle elements and a masking cap allow for an individual configuration tailored to the available space.
The support rail fitting is available in chrome and in powder-coated white and black designs. Thanks to its reduced design, it blends seamlessly into a wide range of architectural spatial concepts.
