A house for community and retreat

The ground floor accommodates publicly accessible communal areas such as a cafeteria, various service providers and the central reception. The storeys above are divided into manageable residential wings. Each wing has its own communal area, which helps residents find their way around and fosters a sense of familiarity and togetherness – a concept that fosters a sense of community whilst respecting the need for individual privacy.A particular highlight is the spacious roof garden, which has been specially designed for residents with dementia.

It offers protected spaces for movement, natural orientation aids and space for social interaction or quiet moments in the middle of greenery and at the same time safe and secure.

Façade with structure – architecture with composure

The architectural language of the building is clear and structured. The façade is strongly structured with floor-to-ceiling offset windows. Horizontal bands frame the cubes and create depth and plasticity. This lends the building volume and a sense of scale, whilst at the same time conveying a sense of tranquillity and providing a sense of direction. The use of a hybrid construction method incorporating recycled concrete underlines the project’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

Wooden elements in the façade ensure a pleasant, natural indoor climate.

Accessibility in detail: System 900 in matt white

In the residents' rooms, great importance was attached to functionality and a cosy design. Light, natural materials, acoustically effective elements and warm colours create a homey environment. HEWI’s products for accessibility are used in the bathrooms – including grab rail systems, shower seats and accessories from the System 900 range in matt white. These fittings meet the highest requirements for security, comfort and convenience.

It supports both the residents’ independence and the requirements of day-to-day care, whilst blending harmoniously into the calm, modern design concept.“It was important to us that accessibility not only worked from a technical point of view, but was also intuitive to use and aesthetically pleasing.”

The solutions from HEWI combine these requirements at a high level and fit seamlessly into our overall architectural concept," says Tom Rickli from Ducksch Anliker AG Architekten ETH FH SIA.
